Dated 30th March 1995
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989 by increasing the rates of remuneration for legal aid work in criminal proceedings done on or after 24th April 1995. In the case of solicitors' remuneration for work in magistrates' courts, higher rates are provided for franchisees. The Regulations also alter the date after which certain work may be remunerated at discretionary instead of prescribed rates from 30th June 1995 to 30th June 1996.
1988 c. 34; sections 25(2), 34 and 43 were amended by the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 (c. 41), Schedule 18, paragraphs 60 and 63. Section 43 is an interpretation provision and is cited because of the meaning given to "regulations".
