The A629 Trunk Road (Ings Lane to Cononley Lane) (Detrunking) Order 1996

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: -

1. The length of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of North Yorkshire that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

2. In this Order -

(1)all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.
(2)(i)"the deposited plan"means the plan numbered HA10/NO0373 marked "The A629 Trunk Road (Ings Lane to Cononley Lane) (Detrunking) Order 1996" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
(ii)"the new trunk road"means the main new trunk road to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the A629 Trunk Road (Skipton to Kildwick Improvement and Slip Roads) Order 1996(3) and
(iii)"the trunk road"means the North-West of Doncaster to Kendal Trunk Road (A629).

3. This Order shall come into force on 26th April 1996 and may be cited as the A629 Trunk Road (Ings Lane to Cononley Lane) (Detrunking) Order 1996.

SCHEDULELENGTHS OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

Part width of the trunk road (marked `A' on the deposited plan) from a point 20 metres north of its junction with Ings Lane northwards for a distance of 190 metres.

The trunk road (marked `B' on the deposited plan) from its junction with Ings Lane, to a point 115 metres north of its junction with Cononley Lane.

Both areas are in the District of Craven in the County of North Yorkshire.
