The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No.2) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st July 1996.
2. In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(2), the following paragraph shall be inserted after paragraph (dd):-�
"(ee)the programme known as the Sustainable Action Fund.".

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 so as to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance for the purposes of the grant programme known as the Sustainable Action Fund. The objectives of this programme are to fund research, demonstration projects and other relevant activities in support of sustainable development in Scotland.
