The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 13(1) of the Food Safety Act 1990(1), hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Beef (Emergency Control) (Revocation) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 5th July 1996.
2. The following Orders are hereby revoked-
(a)the Beef (Emergency Control) Order 1996(2);
(b)the Beef (Emergency Control) (Amendment) Order 1996(3);
(c)the Beef (Emergency Control) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1996(4); and
(d)the Beef (Emergency Control) (Amendment) (No. 3) Order 1996(5).

This Order revokes the Beef (Emergency Control) Order 1996, as amended, which prohibited the sale for human consumption of meat from any bovine animal slaughtered after 28th March 1996 that had reached that stage of maturity where it showed signs of more than one pair of permanent incisors.
The Order, which by its very nature was a temporary measure, is replaced by measures contained in the Fresh Meat (Beef Controls) Regulations 1996 which come into force at the same time as this Order.
1990 c. 16; "the Ministers" is defined in section 4(1) of the Act. Section 6(4) was amended by section 31 of, and paragraph 6 of Schedule 9 to, the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994 (c. 40) and section 6(6) was added by section 76 of, and paragraph 16 of Schedule 16 to, that Act.
