The Channel 4 (Application of Excess Revenues) Order 1996

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 27(7) of the Broadcasting Act 1990(1), hereby makes the following Order a draft of which has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Channel 4 (Application of Excess Revenues) Order 1996 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

2. In section 27(3)(a) of the Broadcasting Act 1990(2), for "50 per cent" substitute "nil per cent".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order reduces from 50% to nil the percentage of the excess revenue of the Channel Four Television Corporation which must be carried to the credit of a reserve fund of the Corporation under section 27(3) of the Broadcasting Act 1990.
