The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2(3) and 7(l) and (2) of, and paragraph 15 of Schedule 1 to, the Civil Aviation Act 1982(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Council on Tribunals under section 8 of the Tribunals and Inquiries Act 1992(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:-
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Aviation Authority (Hovercraft) (Revocation) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 1st February 1997.
2. The Civil Aviation Authority (Hovercraft) Regulations 1972(3) are hereby revoked.

The Civil Aviation Authority (Hovercraft) Regulations 1972 prescribed the procedure to be followed by the Civil Aviation Authority ("the CAA") in connection with the performance by it of its functions in connection with the certification of fitness of hovercraft and the approval of persons as qualified to submit reports to the CAA. In consequence of the transfer of the CAA's functions of certification and maintenance of hovercraft to the Secretary of State these Regulations are revoked (regulation 2).
