1. This Order may be cited as the A21 Trunk Road (Tonbridge Bypass to Pembury Bypass Dualling) (Detrunking) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 5th April 1996.
2. In this Order-
(i)"classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactment or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(ii)"the new trunk road" means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in Article 2 of the A21 Trunk Road (Tonbridge Bypass to Pembury Bypass Dualling) Order 1996(3);
(iii)"the trunk road" means the A21 Trunk Road.
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Shedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be clssified as a classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Kent County Council that the new road is open to traffic.

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between a point 280 metres southwest of its junction with A2014 Pembury Road and a point 100 metres south of its junction with Longfield Road and is shown by Broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA 10/1/SWM/126, marked "The A21 Trunk Road (Tonbridge Bypass to Pembury Bypass Dualling) (Detrunking) Order 1996", signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department of Transport, Great Mister House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR.
