The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the power conferred by paragraph 5 of Schedule 14 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995(1), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 (Appointed Day No. 2) Order 1997.
2. The day appointed for section 116 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 to come into force is 1st February 1998.

This Order brings into force on 1st February 1998 section 116 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 (production of crew certificates and other documents of qualification).
