The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 153(4) of the Environmental Protecton Act 1990(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No. 3) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 24th April 1998, except for article 3 which shall come into force on 23rd April 1998.
2. In section 153(1)(2) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (purposes for which financial assistance may be given) there shall be inserted after paragraph (gg)-
"(hh)Environmental Campaigns Limited."
3. The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No. 2) Order 1998(3) is hereby revoked.

Article 2 of this Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to, or for the purposes of, Environmental Campaigns Ltd, a company limited by guarantee whose main objects are:
to protect, preserve and enhance the environments of town and country in the United Kingdom;
to educate the public and promote awareness of the ways in which the environment is at risk and of ways in which this can be minimised; and
to support the work of the Tidy Britain Group and Going for Green registered charities.
Article 3 revokes the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No. 2) Order 1998 before it comes into force because of an error in it.
