At the Court at Windsor Castle, the 22nd day of April 1998

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has, in accordance with section 120(5) of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990(1), been laid before and approved by each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of a recommendation made by the Lord Chancellor and in the exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 29(2) of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Institute of Legal Executives Order 1998 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Authorised Body

2. The Institute of Legal Executives is hereby designated as an authorised body for the purposes of section 27 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

A body which is authorised under section 29 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 to grant rights of audience under section 27 of that Act, may grant a right of audience before a court to a person who is a member of that body. This Order designates the Institute of Legal Executives as an authorised body for that purpose.
