The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 20(3) and (8), 21(8) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968(1), hereby makes the following Order:
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 28th May 1999.
(2) In this Order "the 1968 Act" means the Gaming Act 1968.
2. Section 20(3) of the 1968 Act (under which the maximum permitted aggregate amount of winnings in respect of games of bingo played in one week simultaneously on different club premises is £30,000(2)) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £50,000.
3. Section 20(8) of the 1968 Act (under which the maximum amount by which weekly winnings on any particular bingo club premises may exceed the aggregate amount of the stakes hazarded is £5,500(3)) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £6,000.
4. It is hereby directed that paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (e) of section 21(2) of the 1968 Act (conditions on which gaming for prizes is permitted at licensed club premises) shall have effect as if-�
(a)for the sum specified in paragraph (a) there were substituted the sum of 50p(4);
(b)for the sum specified in paragraph (b) there were substituted the sum of £60(5);
(c)for the sum specified in paragraph (c) there were substituted the sum of £15(6); and
(d)for the sum specified in paragraph (e) there were substituted the sum of £60(7).
5. The instruments set out in the Schedule to this Order (which are either superseded by this Order or are spent) are hereby revoked.

This Order (which extends to England and Wales and Scotland) increases the monetary limits specified in sections 20(3) and (8) and 21(2) of the Gaming Act 1968 (c. 65) and described in articles 2 to 4 of the Order, and revokes previous Orders which are superseded or spent.
1968 c. 65; section 20(3) was amended by section 1 of the Gaming (Amendment) Act 1980 (c. 8).
The sum of £30,000 is as substituted by article 2 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/962).
The sum of £5,500 is as substituted by article 3 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1998.
Paragraph (a) currently has effect as if 30p were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of article 3(a) of S.I. 1984/247 as respects England and Wales, and article 3(a) of S.I. 1984/468 as respects Scotland.
Paragraph (b) currently has effect as if £50 were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of article 2(a) of S.I. 1997/1828.
Paragraph (c) currently has effect as if £5 were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of article 2(b) of S.I. 1997/1828.
Paragraph (e) currently has effect as if £50 were substituted for the sum specified in that paragraph by virtue of article 2(a) of S.I. 1997/1828.
