The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1997(1) and section 5(1) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after completion of the consultation prescribed under section 5(2) of the latter Act(3), considering it appropriate that the functions of the trust should include functions in relation to the provision of services for one or more Health Authorities(4), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Mid-Sussex National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 1999 and shall come into force on 12th February 1999.
2. For article 3 of the Mid-Sussex National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1994(5) (functions of the trust) there shall be substituted the following article-
3.-(1) The trust is established for the purposes specified in section 5(1) of the Act.
(2) The trust's functions shall be-
(a)to own and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(a) of the Act the following premises:
Crawley Down Health Centre, The Health Centre, Bowers Place, Crawley Down, West Sussex RH10 4HY;
East Grinstead Health Clinic, St. Michael's Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 3GW;
Springvale Community Mental Health Centre, 72-74 Moat Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 4BE;
Haywards Heath Health Centre, Heath Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH19 3BB;
Linwood Community Mental Health Centre, Butlers Green Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 4BE;
Summerfold Community Mental Health Centre, 152 Leylands Road, Burgess Hill, West Sussex RH15 0QE;
Hurstpierpoint Health Centre, Trinity Road, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex BN6 9UQ;
Hassocks Health Centre, Windmill Avenue, Hassocks, West Sussex BN6 8LY; and associated hospitals and premises;
and to provide from there community health services;
(b)to provide and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(b) of the Act hospital accommodation and services at The Princess Royal Hospital, Lewes Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 4EX; and
(c)to provide and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(b) of the Act community health services from the following premises:
Burgess Hill Health Clinic, The Brow, Burgess Hill, West Sussex RH15 9BW;
Stead Resource Centre, 2 Albert Drive, Burgess Hill, West Sussex RH15 9BW.
(From 1st March 1999: 50 Victoria Road, Burgess Hill, West Sussex RH15 9LW)."

This Order amends the Order ("the Establishment Order") which established the Mid-Sussex National Health Service Trust. The Establishment Order is amended to confer on the trust the purpose specified in section 5(1)(b) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 to provide and manage The Princess Royal Hospital for the provision of hospital accommodation and services.
The Establishment Order is also amended to confer on the trust authority under section 5(1)(a) of the 1990 Act to own and manage for the purpose of providing community health services the Crawley Down Health Centre; East Grinstead Health Clinic; Springvale Community Mental Health Centre; Haywards Heath Health Centre; Linwood Community Mental Health Centre; Summerfold Community Mental Health Centre; Hurstpierpoint Health Centre and the Hassocks Health Centre and associated hospitals and premises.
The Establishment Order is also amended to confer on the trust the purpose specified in section 5(1)(b) of the 1990 Act to provide and manage community health services from the Burgess Hill Health Clinic and the Stead Resource Centre.
