Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1B(1) and (3)(b) of the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975(1) is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-�
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1999.
(2) This Order shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
(3) The changes in salary and maximum salary provided for in articles 2 and 3 of this Order shall apply in respect of any period of a year beginning on or after 1st April 1999.
2.-(1) In Part II of Schedule 1 to the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975 ("the 1975 Act")-�
(a)in paragraph 1 for "(a) to (g)" there shall be substituted "(a) to (f)", and
(b)after paragraph 3 there shall be added-�
"4. Minister of State for so long as the holder is not a member of the Cabinet: | Maximum 64,426 Minimum 31,125". |
(2) For the annual amount of salary specified in Part IV of Schedule 1 to the 1975 Act in relation to each of the offices specified below there shall be substituted the amount specified below in relation to that office-�
(a)Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms, £64,426,
(b)Parliamentary Secretary other than Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, £55,631,
(c)Captain of the Queen's Bodyguard of the Yeoman of the Guard, £55,631 and
(d)Lord in Waiting, £51,161.
3. For the annual amount of salary specified in Part I of Schedule 2 to the 1975 Act in relation to each of the positions specified below there shall be substituted the amount specified below in relation to that position-�
(a)Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords, £55,631, and
(b)Chief Opposition Whip in the House of Lords, £51,161.

This Order increases salaries payable under the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975 to certain Ministerial office holders and to certain Members of the Opposition. The amounts specified in this Order (other than the minimum salary for certain Ministers of State) are the maximum salaries payable. The actual salaries in payment may therefore be less.
1975 c. 27. Section 1B was inserted by section 1(2) of the Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1997 (c. 62); further relevant amendments to the 1975 Act were made by the Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1996 (S.I. 1996/1913).
