The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1999

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 121 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998(1) the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1999.

2. Sections 46 and 49 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 shall, to the extent that they are not already in force, come into force on 1st November 1999.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings sections 46 and 49 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 into force, to the extent that they are not already in force, on 1st November 1999. These provisions relate to a bailed person's first appearance in a magistrates' court and the powers of single justices respectively. Both sections are already in force in the areas specified in Schedule 2 to the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998.
