In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 68(3) of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1999.
2. Section 67(2) of, and Schedule 5 to, the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (pre-consolidation amendments) shall come into force on 1st January 2000.
3. The following provisions of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 shall come into force on 1st April 2000:
(a)section 67(3); and
(b)the entries relating to that Act in Schedule 6 (repeals).

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force section 67(2) of, and Schedule 5 to, the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 on 1st January 2000. Schedule 5 contains pre-consolidation amendments relating to youth justice. The Order also brings into force a number of repeals of provisions in the 1999 Act which are consequential upon the introduction of detention and training orders under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (c. 37) on 1st April 2000.
