The M65 Motorway (Junction 1A) (Speed Limit) Regulations 2000

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 17(2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 134(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as The M65 Motorway (Junction 1A) (Speed Limit) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 30th October 2000.

Imposition of speed limit

2.-(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the restricted length of the motorway.

(2) "the restricted length of the motorway" means the exit slip road leading from the westbound carriageway of the M65 motorway, at Chorley, in the County of Lancashire, from a point 200.1 metres west of the centreline of the A49 Wigan Road (Underbridge) to a point 440.7 metres west of the centreline of the A49 Wigan Road (Underbridge), a total distance of 240.6 metres.

Explanatory Note

(This note does not form part of the Regulations)

These Regulations impose a 50 miles per hour speed limit on a section of the westbound exit slip road of the M65 at Junction 1A, between a point 200.1 metres west of the centreline of the A49 Wigan Road and a point 440.7 metres west of the centreline of the A49 Wigan Road.
