The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by paragraph 16(2) of Schedule 8 to the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990(1), hereby makes the following Order-�
1. This Order may be cited as the Licensed Conveyancers (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 31st March 2000.
2. In paragraph 16(1) of Schedule 8 to the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990, for the figure "£1,000" there shall be substituted the figure " £5,000".

This Order increases the maximum compensation that the Council for Licensed Conveyancers may direct a licensed conveyancer to pay his client for inadequate professional services from £1,000 to £5,000.
