Interpretation
2.
In this Order -
any reference to the map is a reference to the map marked "Map referred to in the District of East Cambridgeshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2002" of which prints are available for inspection at -
Wards of the district of East Cambridgeshire
3.
- (1) The existing wards of the district[6] shall be abolished.
(2) The district shall be divided into nineteen wards which shall bear the names set out in column (1) of Schedule 1.
(3) The wards shall comprise the areas described in column (2) of that Schedule by reference to parishes or, where an area is not so described, the area designated on the map by reference to the name of the ward and demarcated by red lines; and the number of councillors to be elected for each ward shall be the number specified in respect of the ward in column (3) of that Schedule.
(4) Where a boundary is shown on the map as running along a road, railway line, footway, watercourse or similar geographical feature, it shall be treated as running along the centre line of the feature.
Wards of the parish of Ely
4.
- (1) The existing wards of the parish of Ely shall be abolished.
(2) The parish shall be divided into four parish wards which shall bear the names Ely East, Ely North, Ely South and Ely West; each parish ward shall comprise the area of the district ward bearing the same name.
(3) The number of councillors to be elected for each of the Ely East, Ely South and Ely West parish wards shall be three and for the Ely North parish ward shall be six.
Wards of the parish of Littleport
5.
- (1) The parish of Littleport shall be divided into two parish wards which shall bear the names Littleport East and Littleport West; each parish ward shall comprise the area of the district ward bearing the same name.
(2) The number of councillors to be elected for the Littleport East parish ward shall be seven and for the Littleport West parish ward shall be eight.
Wards of the parish of Soham
6.
The parish of Soham shall be divided into two parish wards which shall bear the names set out in column (1) of Schedule 2; each parish ward shall comprise the area of the district ward specified in respect of the parish ward in column (2) of that Schedule; and the number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward shall be the number specified in respect of the parish ward in column (3) of that Schedule.
Wards of the parish of Woodditton
7.
The parish of Woodditton shall be divided into two parish wards which shall bear the names set out in column (1) of Schedule 3; each parish ward shall comprise the area of the district ward specified in respect of the parish ward in column (2) of that Schedule; and the number of councillors to be elected for each parish ward shall be the number specified in respect of the parish ward in column (3) of that Schedule.
Maps
8.
East Cambridgeshire District Council shall make a print of the map marked "Map referred to in the District of East Cambridgeshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2002" available for inspection at its offices by any member of the public at any reasonable time.
Electoral Registers
9.
The Electoral Registration Officer for the district shall make such rearrangement of, or adaptation of, the register of local government electors as may be necessary for the purposes of, and in consequence of, this Order.
Revocation
10.
The District of East Cambridgeshire (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1980[7] is revoked, save for article 4.

The functions of the Secretary of State, under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992, to the extent that they relate to electoral arrangements within the meaning of that Act, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission on 1 April 2002 (S.I. 2001/3962).back
