The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 9 of Schedule 14 to the Access to Justice Act 1999[1] makes the following Order:
1.
This Order may be cited as the Criminal Defence Service (Funding) (Amendment) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.
2.
In article 3(1) of the Criminal Defence Service (Funding) Order 2001[2], for "4th April 2005" substitute "1st April 2003".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
These regulations amend the Criminal Defence Service (Funding) Order 2001 to bring forward the date on which the duty of the Legal Services Commission under section 14(1) of the Access to Justice Act 1999 ceases to be the duty of the Lord Chancellor.
