The First Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990[1], hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 7th April 2003.
Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
2.
In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990[2] (purposes for which financial assistance may be given), after paragraph (qq)[3] there shall be inserted -
"
(rr) the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, in respect of its activities in England in so far as they relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment."

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. It enables the Secretary of State (with the consent of the Treasury) to give financial assistance to, or for the purposes of, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, in respect of its activities in England in so far as they relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment.
