ROAD TRAFFIC

The Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2003

  Made 19th November 2003 
  Coming into force 30th November 2003 

Whereas a draft of these Regulations has been laid before Parliament and approved by each House of Parliament in pursuance of section 7A(5) of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994[1];

     Now, therefore, the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 7A and 57(2) of the aforesaid Act of 1994 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 30th November 2003.

    (2) In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002[
2].

Amendment of the principal Regulations
     2. In the principal Regulations after regulation 9 within Part II there shall be inserted -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002 to provide that a supplement is payable by the registered keeper upon late renewal of a vehicle licence. The supplement is £80, save where payment is within 28 days of the date on which the registered keeper is notified that a supplement may or has become payable, when it shall be £40 regulation 2).

A Regulatory Impact Assessment of these Regulations has been made and copies have been placed in the libraries of both Houses of Parliament.
