EDUCATION, ENGLAND

The Education (Information as to Provision of Education)(England)(Amendment) Regulations 2006

  Made 31st March 2006 
  Laid before Parliament 7th April 2006 
  Coming into force 30th April 2006 

The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections section 29(3) and 569(4) of the Education Act 1996[1], makes the following Regulations:

Citation and Commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as The Education (Information as to Provision of Education)(England)(Amendment Regulations 2006 and shall come into force on 30th April 2006.

Amendment of Education (Information as to the Provision of Education)(England) Regulations 1999
    
2. The Education (Information as to Provision of Education) (England) Regulations[2] shall be amended as follows.

     3. In regulation 2(1)

     4. In paragraph 3(a) of Schedule 1 for the word "four" substitute the word "five".

    
5. After paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 insert the following—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Education (Information as to the Provision of Education)(England) Regulations 1999.

The amendments change the period for which local authorities must provide the forecasted figures of the number of pupils enrolled in primary schools from a four year period to a five year period.

They add an additional requirement for local authorities that are divided into districts to provide forecasted figures every year of the number of pupils per district for the following school year, the fifth year of the period and the sixth year of the period for key stages three and four only.
