The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:—
1.
This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Bramham to Wetherby Upgrading) (Detrunking) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 4 January 2007 .

In this Order—
(i) "classified road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instruments which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
(ii) "the new trunk road" means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A1 Trunk Road (Bramham to Wetherby Upgrading)(River Wharfe Bridge) Order 2006;
(iii) "the trunk road" means the A1 Trunk Road (Bramham to Wetherby Upgrading Upgrading;
(iv) "the plans" means site plans 1 and 2 in the folio numbered HA 10/MP/054 and marked "The A1 Trunk Road (Bramham to Wetherby Upgrading) (Detrunking) Order 2006" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the DCLG-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Leeds City Council that the new trunk road is open for traffic.

LENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
A. The length of the trunk road between the southern and northern ends of the northbound on-slip road at Tenter Hill Junction shown by broad black dashes on site plan 1 of the plan.
B. The length of the trunk road between the northern edge of the Walton Road Roundabout and a point 39 metres south of the centre-line of Sandbeck Lane shown by broad black dashes on site plan 2 of the plan.
