COURTS-MARTIAL (APPEALS)

The Courts-Martial Appeal (Amendment No.2) Rules 2007

  Made 20th April 2007 
  Laid before Parliament 26th April 2007 
  Coming into force 28th May 2007 

The Lord Chief Justice of England, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 49 of the Courts-Martial (Appeals) Act 1968[1], and with the approval of the Lord Chancellor, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1. These Rules may be cited as the Courts-Martial Appeal (Amendment No.2) Rules 2007 and shall come into force on 28th May 2007

Amendments to the Courts-Martial Appeal Rules 1968
     2. —(1) The Courts-Martial Appeal Rules 1968[2] shall be amended as follows.

    (2) For the definition of legal adviser in paragraph (3)(c) of rule 8C there is substituted—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


These Rules amend the definition of "legal adviser" in the Courts-Martial Appeal Rules 1968 (S.I. 1968/1071) so as to make reference to a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland or a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Northern Ireland.
