EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends section 4(2) of the Medical Act 1983 by adding the University of Warwick, Cardiff University, the University of East Anglia and a combination of the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth (which operate together as Peninsula Medical School) to the list of bodies or combinations of bodies that may hold qualifying examinations for primary United Kingdom qualifications. Obtaining a primary United Kingdom qualification allows a person to be provisionally registered as a medical practitioner, provided that his fitness to practise is not impaired and the appropriate fees have been paid.
