PUBLIC HEALTH

The Health Protection Agency (Amendment) Regulations 2007

  Made 7th June 2007 
  Laid before Parliament 13th June 2007 
  Coming into force 6th July 2007 

The Secretary of State for Health makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2)(a) of the Health Protection Agency Act 2004[1].

     In accordance with section 2(2)(a) of that Act she has consulted with the Welsh Ministers[2].

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health Protection Agency (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 6th July 2007.

    (2) In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Health Protection Agency Regulations 2005[
3].

Amendment of regulation 1 of the principal Regulations
     2. In regulation 1(3) of the principal Regulations (citation, commencement and interpretation)—

3. In regulation 7 of the principal Regulations (directions – health functions), for paragraph (a) substitute—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Health Protection Agency Regulations 2005[
6]. The Regulations enable the Health Protection Agency to carry out additional functions with regard to provisions of the International Health Regulations 2005 (IHR) of the World Health Organization. (The full text of the IHR is available on the WHO website, www.who.int/est/ihr/IHRWHA58_3-en.pdf).

A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
