ROAD TRAFFIC

The M25 (Junction 14, Terminal 5 Spur Roads) (Speed Limit) Regulations 2007

  Made 12th November 2007 
  Laid before Parliament 14th November 2007 
  Coming into force 18th December 2007 

The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1].

     In accordance with section 134(2)[2] of that Act she has consulted with such organisations as she thinks fit:

Citation and Commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the M25 (Junction 14, Terminal 5 Spur Roads) (Speed Limit) Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 18th December 2007.

Interpretation
    
2. In these Regulations—

Imposition of Speed Limit
    
3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the eastbound carriageway, the westbound carriageway or a slip road.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways and the slip roads leading to and from the M25 and Terminal 5 at Heathrow in the interests of road safety.

A regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no significant impact on business, charities or voluntary bodies.

A temporary Order, made under sections 14(1)(b) and 122A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, imposing a 40 mile per hour speed limit has been in force since 19th December 2005. These Regulations will replace the temporary Order, with one minor variation to one of the starting points for signing purposes.
