The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 56(1) and (2) of the Finance Act 1973(1) and by virtue of the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988(2).
In relation to the exercise of her powers under the Finance Act 1973 she has the consent of the Treasury.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall come into force on 13th July 2008.
2. In regulation 3 of the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) Regulations 1986(3), for "£328" substitute "£344" and for "£134" substitute "£141".

These Regulations amend the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Approval of Fitters and Workshops) (Fees) Regulations 1986 by increasing the fees for the approval of fitters or workshops for the installation or repair of recording equipment (tachographs).
The fee for the issue of an approval is increased by 4.9% from £328 to £344 and for the renewal of an approval by 5.2% from £134 to £141.

A copy has been placed in the library of each House of Parliament.
