The A570 Trunk Road (North of M58 to the Lancashire County Boundary) (Detrunking) Order 2008

1st October 2008

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and how vested in her(2).

1. This Order may be cited as the A570 Trunk Road (North of M58 to the Lancashire County Boundary) (Detrunking) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 1st October 2008.

2. In this Order–

(i) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State: and

(ii) "the trunk road" means the A570 Trunk Road.

3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from 1st October 2008.

SCHEDULE LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between a point at the boundary between the areas of Lancashire County Council and the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton (point A) and the M58 Junction 3 roundabout (point B), and includes two short spurs at Ormskirk that comprise–

(i) a length of Church Road for a distance of 70m (points C to D); and

(ii) a length of St. Helens Road for a distance of 200m (points E to F).

All parts and the respective points are shown on the plan numbered HA 10/TD/029, marked "the A570 Trunk Road (North of M58 to Lancashire County Council/Sefton MBC Boundary) (Detrunking) Order 20.." signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the DfT Records Management Unit, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for part of the A570 north of the M58 to the boundary between Lancashire County Council and Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council to cease to be a trunk road.
