The A570 Trunk Road (Lancashire County Boundary to the Kew roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2008

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and how vested in her(2).

1. This Order may be cited as the A570 Trunk Road (Lancashire County Boundary to the Kew roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 1st October 2008.

2. In this Order–

(i) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State: and

3. "the trunk road" means the A570 Trunk Road. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from 1st October 2008.

SCHEDULE LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the southern boundary of the roundabout at Kew where the A570 meets the B5276 (Meols Cop Road) and Town Lane (Kew), and New Foul Lane, to the boundary between the areas of Lancashire County Council and that of the Metropolitan Borough Council of Sefton.

The length is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA 10/TD/030, marked "the A570 Trunk Road (Lancashire County Council/Sefton MBC Boundary to the roundabout at B5276 Meols Cop Road/Town Lane (Kew)/New Foul Lane) (Detrunking) Order 20.." signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department for Transport Records Management Unit, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards of Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for part of the A570 extending from the boundary between the local authority areas of Lancashire County Council and the Metropolitan Borough Council of Sefton, to the southern part of the roundabout with the B5276 and other roads at Kew, to cease to be a trunk road.
