The Secretary of State makes the following order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21(3) of the UK Borders Act 2007(1)
1. This Order may be cited as the UK Borders Act 2007 (Code of Practice on Children) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 6th January 2009.
2. The Code of Practice for Keeping Children Safe from Harm issued by the Secretary of State for the Home Department shall come into force on 6th January 2009.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 6th January 2009 the Code of Practice on Children issued by the Secretary of State for the Home Department. This Code of Practice is designed to ensure that in exercising functions in the United Kingdom, the UK Border Agency takes appropriate steps to ensure that while children are in the United Kingdom they are safe from harm. Since the UK Borders Act 2007 gained royal assent, the Border and Immigration Agency has changed its title to the UK Border Agency.
