The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8, 9 and 24(5) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001(1), having regard to the definition of "prescribed" in section 24(1) of that Act.
In accordance with section 24(4)(2) of that Act the Secretary of State has consulted with the Scottish Ministers and the Security Industry Authority.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007 (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and shall come into force on 6th April 2009.
2.–(1) The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007(3) shall be amended as follows.
(2) Omit regulation 1(2).
(3) In regulation 6(4)(a) after "invalid carriage" insert ", save in relation to Northern Ireland,".
(4) After sub-paragraph (a) of regulation 6(4) insert–
"(aa) "invalid carriage", in relation to Northern Ireland, has the same meaning as in Article 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(4).".
(5) In regulation 6(4)(b) after "under section 21 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970" insert "or under section 14 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons (Northern Ireland) Act 1978(5)".
(6) In regulation 6(4)(c) after "emergency vehicle" insert ", save in relation to Northern Ireland,".
(7) After sub-paragraph (c) of regulation 6(4) insert–
"(cc) "emergency vehicle", in relation to Northern Ireland, has the same meaning as in regulation 2(1) of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000(6).".

These Regulations amend the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007 so as to extend those Regulations to Northern Ireland. In addition these Regulations make amendments to the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007 to take account of Northern Ireland legislation relating to invalid carriages, disability badges and emergency vehicles.
