(This note is not part of the Order)
The Rules approved by this Order amend the General Chiropractic Council (Registration) Rules 1999 ("the Registration Rules").
Rules 3 to 5 and 6(a) and (b) remove the references in the Registration Rules to the particular forms appearing in Schedule 1 to those Rules, and Rule 7 omits Schedule 1 itself.
Rule 6(c) to (e) removes the exemption from the requirement to apply for retention on the register in respect of a person who is subject to disciplinary proceedings. The effect of this is that such a person will be required to apply for retention on the register and to pay the applicable fee.
Rule 8(a) and (c) to (e) will enable those intending to engage in the practice of chiropractic in the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, a European Economic Area State or Switzerland, but not in the United Kingdom, to pay a reduced fee instead of the full fee; this will put them in the same position as those who intend to engage in the practice of chiropractic anywhere else outside the United Kingdom.
Rules 5(b) and 8(b) remove the requirement for a registrant to pay a fee when notifying the Registrar of the General Chiropractic Council, pursuant to rule 7(1) of the Registration Rules, of a change of their particulars in the register.
1994 c.17: section 6(2) was amended by S.I. 2007/3101 and section 35(2) by S.I. 2008/1774; section 43 is cited for the meaning assigned to the term "prescribed". Back [1]
