(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations correct errors in the Company and Business Names (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/1085) ("the Principal Regulations").
Regulation 13 of the Principal Regulations permits certain bodies corporate to carry on business under a name that includes the word "limited" (or its Welsh equivalent, "cyfyngedig") even though they are not companies incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 (c.46) or earlier companies legislation. Regulation 2(2) of these Regulations adds two further categories to those corporate bodies.
Regulation 2(3) of these Regulations corrects an abbreviation in Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations and adds "industrial and provident society" to the list of specified expressions. These Regulations make the same changes to Schedule 2 as applied to limited liability partnerships by regulation 10 of the Limited Liability Partnerships (Application of Companies Act 2006) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/1804).
An impact assessment has not been produced for these Regulations because no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
