The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 154(5) of the Transport Act 2000(1):

Citation, commencement and application

1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Bus Service Operators Grant (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and they come into force on 1st November 2011.

(2) These Regulations apply to England only.

Amendment of regulations

2.-(1) The Bus Service Operators Grant (England) Regulations 2002(2) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 2, omit the definitions of "apex fare", "domestic coach service" and "statutory travel concession permit".

(3) In regulation 3-�

(a)omit paragraph (1)(d); and

(b)omit paragraph (5).

Revocation

3. The Bus Service Operators Grant (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2003(3) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

Section 154 of the Transport Act 2000 provides for the Secretary of State to make grants to operators of eligible bus services towards their costs in operating those services. The Bus Service Operators Grant (England) Regulations 2002 ("the Principal Regulations"), as amended, prescribe the classes of eligible bus services.

This instrument amends the Principal Regulations, ending eligibility for coach services over routes of 15 miles or more.

The Department for Transport has produced an Explanatory Memorandum and an Impact Assessment showing the effect this instrument will have on the costs of business and public sector. These documents are available from the Buses and Taxis Division, Department for Transport, Zone 2/14, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 4DR or on the website www.legislation.gov.uk. A copy has been placed in the library of each House of Parliament.
