The School Information (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013

The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 537 and 569(4) of the Education Act 1996(1):

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the School Information (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 and come into force on the 1st September 2013.

Amendment of the School Information (England) Regulations 2008

2.-(1) The School Information (England) Regulations 2008(2) are amended as follows.

(2) In Schedule 4 (specified information to be published on the school's website), after paragraph 12 insert-

"13.  In respect of a school in receipt of an allocation from the Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium grant(3), details of:

(a)how it is intended that the current academic year's allocation will be spent; and

(b)how the previous academic year's allocation was spent; the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of those pupils at the school in respect of whom grant funding was allocated; and how that effect has been assessed."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the School Information (England) Regulations 2008 and come into force on 1st September 2013. They impose an additional requirement on maintained schools to publish specified details relating to the Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium grant on a website.

No impact assessment has been produced for this instrument because no significant impact on business, civil society organisations or the public sector is foreseen.

Relevant amendments to section 537 have been made by paragraph 37 of Schedule 7 to the Education Act 1997 (c.44), section 140(1) of, and paragraph 152(a) of Schedule 30 to, the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c.31), and article 5(1) of paragraph 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 2 to S.I. 2010/1158. See section 579 of the Education Act 1996 for the definitions of "prescribed" and "regulations".

The Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium grant is the sum of money paid under that name annually to a local authority under section 14 of the Education Act 2002 (c.32) on condition that it be allocated to maintained schools with eligible pupils in year 7.
