The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 37(1) of the Prison Act 1952(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the Closure of Prisons (No. 2) Order 2014 and comes into force on 28th September 2014.
2. HM Prison The Verne, in Dorset, is closed.

HM Prison The Verne was closed on 31st January 2014 by S.I. 2014/3. On 18th March 2014, a declaration was made under section 33(2)(a) of the Prison Act 1952 (c. 52) to re-open The Verne as a prison. This Order provides for its closure on 28th September 2014.
A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this Instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
