The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (Commencement No.1) Order 2014

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 185(1) of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014(1), makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1.  (1)  This Order may be cited as the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2014.

(2) In this Order, "the Act" means the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Commencement

2.  Section 147 of, and Schedule 8 to, the Act come into force on 14th March 2014.

3.  The following provisions of the Act come into force on 20th March 2014-

(a)section 143;

(b)section 181(1), as far as it relates to the coming into force of the provisions specified in sub-paragraph (c); and

(c)paragraphs 97 and 98 of Schedule 11.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force section 147 of and Schedule 8 to the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 on 14th March 2014.

It also brings into force section 143 and paragraphs 97 and 98 of Schedule 11 on 20th March 2014. Section 181(1) is also commenced on 20th March 2014 but only for the purposes of the coming into force of paragraphs 97 and 98 of Schedule 11. Section 147 introduces Schedule 8 which provides powers to seize invalid passports and other invalid travel documents. Section 143 sets out and extends the powers of Local Policing Bodies to provide or commission support services for victims and witnesses of crime and anti-social behaviour. Paragraphs 97 and 98 of Schedule 11 contain amendments consequential upon section 143.
