EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

Paragraph 4(5) of Schedule 1 to the Films Act 1985 provides that Her Majesty may by Order in Council provide for films to be treated as British films for the purposes of that Schedule if they are made in accordance with the terms of any agreement between Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and any other government, international organisation or authority.

This Order amends the Films Co-Production Agreements Order 1985 ("the principal Order") by substituting a new Schedule to the principal Order to include an agreement with Brazil made on 28th September 2012 available from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/foreign-commonwealth-office.

This Order also revokes a previous Order which amended the Schedule to the principal Order and has now been superseded. No impact assessment has been produced for this instrument because no significant impact on businesses, civil society organisations or the public sector is foreseen.

(1)

1985 c.21. Paragraph 4(5) was substituted by the Films (Definition of "British Film") Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/643).

(2)

S.I. 1985/960, last amended by S.I. 2014/1561.
