The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 103(2)(a) and (6) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Recovery of Costs (Remand to Youth Detention Accommodation) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and come into force on 1st April 2016.
2. Regulation 3 of the Recovery of Costs (Remand to Youth Detention Accommodation) Regulations 2013(2) is amended as follows-
(a)in paragraph (5)(f), after "2015" insert "(but before 1st April 2016)";
(b)after paragraph (5)(f) insert-
"(g)on or after 1st April 2016, (but before 5th May 2016), £490;
(h)on or after 5th May 2016, £472.";
(c)in paragraph (6)(c), after "2015" insert "(but before 1st April 2016)"; and
(d)after paragraph (6)(c) insert-
"(d)on or after 1st April 2016, £574.".

These Regulations amend the Recovery of Costs (Remand to Youth Detention Accommodation) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/507) by inserting new amounts that designated authorities are liable to pay the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales in respect of each night on which a child is detained on remand in a secure training centre (decreased from £497 to £490) or a secure children's home (increased from £559 to £574) on or after 1st April 2016. A further decrease from £490 to £472 for remand in a secure training centre is provided on or after 5th May 2016.
A full impact assessment has not been published for this instrument as it has no impact on the private sector, voluntary sector or civil society organisations.
