Coming into operation in accordance with regulation 1
The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Regulations, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Articles 24 and 36(2) of the Jobseekers (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Jobseeker's Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and come into force immediately after the coming into operation of the Universal Credit Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016(2).
2. In regulation 4 of the Jobseeker's Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1997(3) (entitlement to jobseeker's allowance) after "for the purposes of" insert "Article 8J,".

These regulations insert references to higher level sanctions into the Jobseeker's Allowance (Members of the Forces) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1997 in relation to the provisions of the Welfare Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 2015 (S.I. 2015/2006 (N.I. 1)). They make in relation to Northern Ireland only provision corresponding to provision contained in regulation 21(2)(i) of S.I. 2013/630 made by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in relation to Great Britain
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
