The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 88C, 88E, 88F and 138(7) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998( 1).

Citation, commencement, extent and application

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2022.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 28th February 2022.

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

(4) These Regulations apply in relation to arrangements under which pupils are to be admitted to schools in England for the school year 2023 – 2024 and subsequent years.

Interpretation

2.  In these Regulations, “ school year” means the period beginning with the first school term to begin after July and ending with the beginning of the first such term to begin after the following July.

Amendment of Schedule 3 to the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012

3.—(1) The table in Schedule 3 to the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012( 2) (representative bodies or persons of the religion or religious denomination for schools designated as having a religious character) is amended as follows.

(2) In the first and second columns, omit the entries relating to—

(a) the Greek Orthodox religion; and

(b) the Hindu religion.

(3) In the entry relating to the Jewish religion, in the second column, after “listed in” insert “Part 1 of”.

(4) In the entry relating to the Methodist religion, for the entry in the second column, substitute “Methodist Academies and Schools Trust”.

(5) In the entry relating to the Sikh religion, in the second column, for “Nanaksar Thath Isher Darbar Trust” substitute “The appropriate representative body for the school listed in Part 2 of Schedule 4”.

4.  For Schedule 4 to the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012 (rabbinic authorities) substitute—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012 ( S.I. 2012/8).

Regulation 3 amends Schedule 3 to those Regulations to omit entries relating to representative bodies of certain religions for schools designated as having a religious character, and to amend other such entries.

Regulation 4 substitutes a new Schedule 4 to those Regulations. In the table of rabbinic authorities in the new Part 1 of that Schedule, names, locations or postcodes of certain schools are amended, omitted or added.

Part 2 of the substituted Schedule 4 specifies the appropriate representative body for Khalsa Primary School, Ealing UB2 4LA.
