The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 123(4)(a) of the Education Act 2002( 1).

Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the School Teachers’ Incentive Payments (England) (Amendment) Order 2024 and comes into force on 30th October 2024.

(2) This Order extends to England and Wales.

Amendment of the School Teachers’ Incentive Payments (England) Order 2019

2.—(1) The School Teachers’ Incentive Payments (England) Order 2019( 2) is amended as follows.

(2) In article 2(2)(d), for “Levelling Up Premium” substitute “Targeted Retention Incentive”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the School Teachers’ Incentive Payments (England) Order 2019 ( S.I. 2019/1133). The Levelling Up Premium scheme is now referred to as the Targeted Retention Incentive scheme in the list of schemes under which payment is not to be treated as remuneration for the purposes of section 122(1) of the Education Act 2002 (c. 32).

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on business or civil society organisations. The instrument has minimal impact on the public sector.
