The Pensions Act 2004 (Code of Practice) (Defined Benefit Funding) Appointed Day Order 2024

The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 91(9) of the Pensions Act 2004( 1).

Citation and extent

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Pensions Act 2004 (Code of Practice) (Defined Benefit Funding) Appointed Day Order 2024.

(2) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into effect of the Pensions Regulator’s Defined Benefit Funding Code of Practice is 12th November 2024.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order appoints 12th November 2024 as the day for the coming into effect of the Pensions Regulator’s Defined Benefit Funding Code of Practice. The Defined Benefit Funding Code of Practice provides practical guidance on the new scheme funding regime. It is for trust-based occupational pension schemes providing defined benefits and is primarily for the scheme’s trustees and the scheme’s sponsoring employer.

The Defined Benefit Funding Code of Practice is available on the Pensions Regulator’s website:https://www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/en/document-library/code-of-practice/funding-and-investment/funding-defined-benefits. Copies may be obtained by post from the Pensions Regulator, Telecom House, 125-135 Preston Road, Brighton, BN1 6AF.

A full impact assessment has not been published for this instrument as it has no, or minimal, impact on the private sector, the voluntary sector or civil society organisations.
