The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2006

  Made 28 November 2006 
  Coming into force 30 November 2006 

The National Assembly for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1, 7 and 23(f) and (g) of the Animal Health Act 1981[1] and now vested in it, makes the following Order:

Title, commencement and application
     1. The title of this Order is the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2006. It applies in relation to Wales and comes into force on 30 November 2006.

Amendments to the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978
    
2. —(1) The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978[2] is amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4).

    (2) In paragraph (2) of article 6 (which specifies the date until which disinfectants subject to transitional provisions remain approved), for 30 June 2005 substitute "28 February 2007".

    (3) For the table in Schedule 1 (which lists approved disinfectants) substitute the table in Schedule 1 to this Order.

    (4) For the table in Schedule 2 (which lists disinfectants subject to transitional provisions) substitute the table in Schedule 2 to this Order.

Revocation
     3. The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2005[3] is revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order which applies in relation to Wales amends the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978 ("the 1978 Order"), S.I. 1978/32.

It substitutes for the tables in Schedules 1 and 2 to the 1978 Order the tables set out in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Order. Schedule 1 lists disinfectants approved by the National Assembly for Wales and Schedule 2 lists disinfectants which are no longer approved but are subject to transitional arrangements and can continue to be used as approved disinfectants until 28 February 2007.

This Order was notified in draft to the European Commission in accordance with Directive 98/34/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 June 1998 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations[
5].

This Order revokes the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) (Wales) Order 2005 (S.I 2005/583) (W.49).

A Regulatory Appraisal has been prepared. Copies may be obtained from the Animal and Plant Health Division of the Welsh Assembly Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ.
