1.–(1) The title of this Order is the Childcare Act 2006 (Commencement No.1) (Wales) Order 2008.
(2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.
(3) In this Order "the Act" ("y Ddeddf") means the Childcare Act 2006.
2. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 31 January 2008:–
(a) Sections 22 to 29, in relation to the general functions of Local Authorities in Wales;
(b) Section 30 (interpretation of Part 2);
(c) Section 101 (provision of information about children: Wales);
(d) Section 102 (disqualification for registration under the Children Act 1989).
3. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 1 April 2008:–
(a) Section 103(1) to the extent that it relates to the provisions of paragraph 28 of Schedule 2 specified in Article 3(b) below;
(b) Paragraph 28 of Schedule 2.

This is the first Commencement Order made under the Childcare Act 2006 in relation to Wales.
Article 2 sets out the provisions of the Childcare Act 2006 coming into force on 31 January 2008. Article 3 sets out the provisions of the Childcare Act 2006 coming into force on 1 April 2008 to the extent specified in each paragraph.
Article 2(a) brings sections 22 to 29 (general functions of local authorities in Wales) into force. Article 2(b) brings section 30 (interpretation of Part 2) into force. Article 2(c) brings section 101 (provision of information about children in Wales) into force. Article 2(d) brings section 102 (disqualification for registration under the Children Act 1989), in relation to Wales, into force.
Article 3(a) brings section 103(1) of the Childcare Act 2006, (to the extent that it relates to paragraph 28 of Schedule 2 of the Childcare Act 2006), into force. Article 3(b) brings paragraph 28 of Schedule 2 of the Childcare Act 2006 into force.
