AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE MAKING OF AN ADDITIONAL GRANT TO UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN. |
||

WHEREAS under the University Education (Agriculture and Dairy Science) Act, 1926 (No. 32 of 1926), certain annual grants are now payable to University College, Dublin, out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas: |
||
AND WHEREAS the Governing Body of the said College has lately made provision by statute for the establishment of certain new teaching offices in the Department of Modern Irish Language and Literature: |

AND WHEREAS the said Governing Body has agreed to make provision for securing that, subject to certain exceptions, no person shall, unless he has previously passed an oral examination in the Irish Language, be permitted to present himself for any degree examinations held in the said College: |

AND WHEREAS by reason of the matters aforesaid it is expedient to make an additional grant to the said College: |
||
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS, OF SAORSTÁT EIREANN AS FOLLOWS:— |
||
Additional annual grant to University College, Dublin. |
1.—(1) Out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas there shall be paid to University College, Dublin, in the financial year commencing on the 1st day of April, 1934, and every subsequent financial year such sum not exceeding the sum of £3,000 (three thousand pounds) as the Minister for Finance, after consultation with the Minister for Education, shall in each such year sanction. |

(2) All moneys paid to University College, Dublin, under this section shall be applied by that College for the purposes of the Department of Modern Irish Language and Literature. |

Short title. |
2.—This Act may be cited as the University College Dublin Act, 1934 . |
