NEWSPAPERS (SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CONVEYANCE BY POST OFFICE MAIL VANS) AMENDMENT (No. 3) WARRANT, 1974.

NEWSPAPERS (SPECIAL SERVICE FOR CONVEYANCE BY POST OFFICE MAIL VANS) AMENDMENT (No. 3) WARRANT, 1974.

I, CONOR CRUISE O'BRIEN, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2 , 3 and 6 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969) and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows :

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Amendment (No. 3) Warrant, 1974.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1974.

2. The Schedule to the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Warrant, 1957 ( S.I. No. 37 of 1957 ), as amended by the Newspapers (Special Service for Conveyance by Post Office Mail Vans) Amendment (No. 2) Warrant, 1968 ( S.I. No. 267 of 1968 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Schedule to this Warrant.

SCHEDULE.

"In case the newspaper bundles sent to the newsagent are bundles each not exceeding 3 lb. in weight

£12 per annum

In case the newspaper bundles sent to the newsagent are bundles each exceeding 3 lb. and not exceeding 6 lb. in weight

£18 per annum

In case the newspaper bundles sent to the newsagent are bundles each exceeding 6 lb. and not exceeding 11 lb. in weight

£24 per annum

In case the newspaper bundles sent to the newsagent are bundles each exceeding 11 lb. and not exceeding 15 lb. in weight

£33 per annum

In case the newspaper bundles sent to the newsagent are bundles each exceeding 15 lb. and not exceeding 22 lb. in weight

£42 per annum."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant comes into operation on the 1st October, 1974. It authorises increases in the charges for the conveyance by Post Office mail vans on rural services of bundles of newly-published daily newspapers.
