I, MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 88/297/EEC of 3 May, 1988(1), and to Commission Directives 88/410/EEC and 88/411/EEC of 21 June, 1988(2), 88/412/EEC, 88/413/EEC and 88/414/EEC of 22 June, 1988(2) and 88/465/EEC of 30 June, 1988(3), in so far as those Directives apply to the type approval of agricultural or forestry tractors and components, hereby make the following Regulations:

(1)OJ No. L 126 of 20.5.1988.

(2)OJ No. L 200 of 26.7.1988.

(3)OJ No. L 228 of 17.8.1988.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) (No. 2) Regulations, 1988 and shall come into operation on the 31st day of December, 1988.

2. In these Regulations "the Regulations of 1979" means the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 137 of 1979 ).

3. Regulation 11 of the Regulations of 1979 (inserted by the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 162 of 1988 )) is hereby amended by the substitution of "reference number 21" for "reference number 24".

4. The following Schedule is hereby substituted for Schedule I to the Regulations of 1979 (inserted by the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 270 of 1983 ) and amended by the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1987 ( S.I. No. 297 of 1987 ) and the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations, 1988):
