The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46(9) (inserted by section 1(b) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2 Act 1968 ( No. 21 of 1968 ), as amended by sections 8 and 9 of No. 32 of 1983 )) of No. 39 of 1961 ), order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961 (Increase of Judicial Remuneration) Order 2002. 2. The annual sums payable by way of remuneration to the several judges of the Supreme Court, the High Court, the Circuit Court and the District Court shall be the following, with effect from 1 April 2002: |

To the Chief Justice: €201,812. |

To the President of the High Court: €187,398. |

To each ordinary Judge of the Supreme Court: €175,866. |
||||||||
To the President of the Circuit Court: €170,100. |
||||||||
To each ordinary Judge of the High Court: €165,777. |
||||||||
To the President of the District Court: €125,413. |
||||||||
To each ordinary Judge of the Circuit Court: €121,089. |
||||||||
To each ordinary Judge of the District Court: €100,906. |

This Order applies increases with effect from 1 April 2002 to the salaries of members of the Judiciary arising from the recommendations in Report No. 38 of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Service, dated 25 September 2000. The increase takes account of a general pay increase on 1 October 2001 under the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. |
